Smart

News has just come down that the DCCC has taken out a loan for $15 million to finance its final three weeks of operations. Apparently sensing an unprecedented opportunity win seats this cycle, the DCCC is rolling the dice and going for it.

As the long list of close or near-close House races -- we noted over 50, and there are perhaps close to 75 of them -- attests, there are probably more good chances for Democrats than they can shake a stick it. And even though they already enjoy a major money advantage over their counterparts at the NRCC, around 4-t0-1 at last report, the DCCC sees that it likely needs more to spread around. Needless to say that all of the 10 neglected seats we highlighted yesterday are probably going to be hit with some Democratic air support very soon.

This is a smart move by Chris Van Hollen and the House Democratic leadership, and a devastating hit to the already-reeling NRCC, which itself took out an $8 million loan about a week or so ago. With the Senate races in Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, and now perhaps even Texas looking very tight, we may see Chuck Schumer and the DSCC make a similar move soon.
