This one is interesting. After months of restraining themselves from directly invoking or attacking Sarah Palin -- and believe me, the temptation was strong, and one we have never really resisted here -- Team Obama is up with an ad that directly goes after Palin. And I think this one is a doozy, directly questioning John McCain's decision to pick the winking Palin by using his own words against him. The commercial is available here.
Why, after all this time and with the election in less than a week has Obama gone there? Well, I think that the campaign simply finally felt comfortable launching a direct attack on Palin. Lord knows that everyone else has. Really, with Palin's favorable ratings now the lowest of the big four nominees, often by far, not much was to be lost by the ad if it backfires. It is now at the point that Palin is so disliked by so many people not in the GOP base that this kind of ad really is not a big deal. The same was not true earlier in September, when a direct Obama attack on Palin would have gotten much more media attention.
Still, kind of interesting we're seeing this today.
