Even before the recount has officially begun, the gap is narrowing in Minnesota's Senate race. The current totals:
Norm Coleman 1,211,540 (41.99%)
Al Franken 1,211,301 (41.98%)
Dean Barkley 437,377 (15.16%)
Out of nearly three million votes cast, only 239 votes, or approximately one-hundredth of one percent separate the incumbent Coleman and the challenger Franken. It looks like it was a little premature for me to declare Franken dead (though, I still feel strongly that he was a lousy candidate).
The nastiest race in America is also going to be its closest in the end. Who the heck knows how this one is going to finish?
